Hello!

I believe good design makes people happy and happy people make the world a better place.

I have come to the UX field after owning a dog walking and pet sitting business for 15 years. I have been craving new challenges and UX appeals to me because it’s a collaborative environment, a tangible way to help people, and a never-ending learning process.

In my spare time I enjoy playing ball hockey, skiing, hanging out with my Little Sister, traveling to Martha's Vineyard and Maine, and spending time with my hilarious and adorable dog, Tate.

I started JP K9 knowing that my love for dogs and my desire to help people would position me to be successful.  I quickly developed a core set of values that set me apart from the rest of the pack:

  • Honesty at all times: I was willing to have the uncomfortable conversations and I always admitted straightaway when I made a mistake.

  • You can’t be all things to all people: if I couldn’t provide what someone was looking for I was happy to help them find someone who could.

  • Awareness that my true role was to alleviate guilt and stress for my clients.  My goal was to make things easier, not harder.

  • Treat people with respect and concern:   both clients and employees!

As a small business owner I developed the ability to see the big picture, and I became used to wearing many hats. A ‘can do’ attitude has brought me far in life.  If I don’t know how to do something I commit myself to learning it.

What is ball hockey?  Ball hockey is a relatively unknown sport in the US.  It's essentially just like ice hockey but it's played on foot, in a rink without ice and a round ball is used instead of a flat puck.

I have the honor of being a two time member of Team USA in the Masters division and in 2018 we won a bronze medal in the Masters World Championships held in Bermuda.

Playing ball hockey has taught me how to be collaborative and coachable, how to push myself beyond what I thought I was capable of, how to deal with failure, and how to use that failure as a learning opportunity and go on to succeed.

Playing this sport has defined who I am and informed how I deal with life’s many challenges.
